A-gwi Jjim (Spicy Angler Fish with Soybean Sprouts)

Hey.Park.
It's been almost a year since you left to America. Do you remember the time we had A-gwi Jjim in Masan? You visited me after finishing your entrance exam, right? As you know, I'm in Gu-mi now. I don't know why I remembered that time, even though I'm not in Masan any more. Anyway, how are you? I'm good except one thing that I have to do!! You know, the fucking studying for the appointment. Except that one thing, everything is fine to me. Ah, there is one more thing that I'm concerned about now. Talk it later. To talk it, we have to be face-to-face and we need several shots. Of course it's gonna be Soju. Don't say to me that you don't like to drink Soju. If you do, I'll tear your ass. Okay? Is there any A-gwi Jjim restaurants in Philadelphia? Introduce the Korean hot power to your foreign friends. A few days ago, my foreign friends and I went to eat Chuncheon dakgalbi (Spicy Grilled Chicken). They even think dakgalbi is hot. I really want to see their facial expression when they eat A-gwi Jjim. It's gonna be so funny. Oh, it's time to feed my muscle. Talk you later. 今日はこれで.

Brown's Opimal Distance Model.

I visited my friend's blog after a long absence. I read what he wrote about and it made me think that he is having a difficult time in the U.S. now. It seems like that he undergoes culture stress. I'm not worrying too much, however. I do know it's a natural process and he isn't a kind of bull shits who are afraid of living with others in other cultures.

Brown's Optimal Distance Model could explain the feelings that my friend has these days. Brown said second culture acquisition is the process of becoming adapted to a new culture. He divided the process into four steps - Euphoria and excitement, Culture shock, Culture stress, and Acculturation. Every person feels culture stress while he/she adapts himself/herself to a new culture. This culture stress, however, helps a person to acquire the language. Optimal social distance makes language learners have facilitative anxiety that gives positive effects on the new language learning. No anxiety for acquiring new culture could make learners become too comfortable and they may not feel the necessity to study a foreign language.

Just watch out for the pressure neither too overwhelming nor too weak, ma friend!
